South East Wales XC League Rules (Updated for 2010)

This is a fun competition with no minimum distance and all claims taken on trust.
  1. All flights must comply with airlaw, site rules and any prevailing airspace restrictions.
  2. An open distance flight with no way points will score the straight line distance from the take-off point to the landing point.
  3. If the majority of an open distance flight is flown out of ridge lift, it can include up to three way points, and will score the aggregate of the legs flown. For example an open distance flight with three way points will score the straight line distance from the take-off to the first way point, plus the straight line distance from the first way point to the second way point, plus the straight line distance from the second way point to the third way point, plus the straight line distance from the third way point to the landing point.
  4. Out and return flights can include a maximum of three way points, and will score the aggregate of the legs flown times the applicable multiplier. If the aggregate distance flown is less than 25km, this will be multiplied by 1.5 to calculate the distance scored. If the aggregate distance flown is equal to or greater than 25km, this will be multiplied by 2 to calculate the distance scored. The majority of an out and return flight must be flown out of ridge lift.
  5. To qualify as an FAI triangle, the shortest leg of a triangle flight must be at least 28% of the total distance flown. If a triangle flight does not comply with the 28% rule it will be classed as a flat triangle. The majority of all triangle flights must be flown out of ridge lift.
  6. FAI triangle flights where the aggregate distance flown is less than 25Km, will score 2.2 times the aggregate distance flown. FAI triangle flights where the aggregate distance flown is equal to or greater than 25Km will score 2.8 times the aggregate distance flown.
  7. Flat triangle flights where the aggregate distance flown is less than 25Km, will score 1.5 times the aggregate distance flown. Flat triangle flights where the aggregate distance flown is equal to or greater than 25Km will score twice the aggregate distance flown.
  8. A full OS grid reference (e.g. SO 123 456) must be supplied for any take-off, way/turn point, or landing point submitted.
  9. Only the top six flights flown by each pilot will score distance in the XC League Table. No more than two of these can be from take-off points outside Wales.
  10. All claims must be received within one month of the flight.
  11. If you enter your flight in the UK National league, you must list SEWHG&PGC as your Club for that entry in the UK National League.
