The Welsh Free Flight Federation
The Welsh Free Flight Federation (WFFF) exists to promote and develop the sport of hang gliding and paragliding within Wales, and to foster co-operation and understanding amongst the Welsh hang free flight Clubs.The Welsh Free Flight Federation is a member of the Outdoor Pursuits Group of the Welsh Sports Association, and is recognized by the Sports Council for Wales as the representative group for the sport of hang gliding and paragliding within Wales.
The WFFF is also a member of the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA).
Membership of the Welsh Free Flight Federation is open to any democratically constituted BHPA club whose base and activities are centred within the borders of Wales.
The Federation currently consists of five autonomous free flight clubs who between them control the majority of hang gliding and paragliding sites in Wales.
- The North Wales Hang Gliding & Paragliding Club
- Snowdonia Skysports
- The Mid Wales Hang Gliding & Paragliding Club
- The SE Wales Hang Gliding & Paragliding Club
- The SW Wales Soaring Club
Members of these five regional clubs are automatically members of the WFFF, and enjoy access to many of the best flying sites in Wales through the reciprocal flying arrangements that exist within the Welsh Free Flight Federation. But it‘s not a free for all, and not all Welsh sites are covered by this scheme. In some instances sites have been excluded because of particular local difficulties.
The Federation and the SE Wales Hang Gliding & Paragliding Club are keen to foster pilot safety and a responsible attitude when flying Welsh sites, and would therefore like to remind all pilots of the importance of observing site rules.
If you are a SE Wales Club member and are thinking of flying unfamiliar sites elsewhere in Wales, please seek guidance from the local resident club before flying their sites for the first time.
